Employees now have more flexibility during onboarding to determine the state W-4 they need to complete. On the documents completion page in onboarding, the employee is able to select the state in which they work. If they choose a state with a state withholding form, then they will be able to complete that form. If they work in a state with no state withholdings, then they will not be required to complete a form and that step will be marked complete. The state form associated to the work location of the employee (or company location) will still be the recommended form for the employee, but the employee will be able to select a different state if that suggestion is incorrect.
