July 2026 product updates from Greenshades

Tax engine accuracy, Pay Run Assistant visibility, adjustment run behavior, and MA PFML contribution tracking.

There were four updates released to our Payroll solution in July, spanning tax accuracy, payroll wizard usability, and compliance filing. Three close small workflow gaps in the tax engine and the Payroll Enterprise Wizard. The fourth—MA PFML contribution tracking—closes an actual compliance gap for clients filing through Greenshades Payroll Tax Service.

Payroll tax engine: multi-state jurisdiction updates

This release includes jurisdiction updates across six states—Oregon, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Alaska, Kentucky, and Georgia—covering rate changes, new local taxes, and calculation corrections, all absorbed automatically by Greenshades' automated tax engine. General PFML tax calculation corrections were included as well, along with a new benefit type for Trump Accounts.

Pay Run Assistant: new error visibility

More easily catch and resolve payroll issues before you submit, especially useful when you're managing a large employee count. The Pay Run Assistant for the Enterprise Payroll Wizard now surfaces four additional validation errors:

  • Time off pay hours exceeding an employee's available balance
  • An earning added to meet minimum wage requirements
  • Direct deposit changed since the pay run was started
  • A missing primary work location, which blocks SUTA calculation

Each links directly to the affected employee or earning record.

Adjustment runs: employee step now matches standard behavior

The Employees step on adjustment runs now behaves the same way it does everywhere else in the Enterprise Payroll Wizard. The employees on screen are exactly the ones you selected for the adjustment, and the Add Employees button is gone. No more second guessing whether you can add someone mid-run.

MA PFML: separate Family and Medical Leave contribution tracking

Massachusetts requires PFML contributions reported as four separate values—Family-Employer, Family-Employee, Medical-Employer, and Medical-Employee—not two blended totals. Greenshades now tracks all four individually, replacing the two aggregated codes used previously, so the MA PFML e-file pulls exact figures instead of estimating a split:

  • Family Leave – Employer
  • Family Leave – Employee
  • Medical Leave – Employer
  • Medical Leave – Employee

For clients filing through Greenshades Payroll Tax Service, this ensures accurate and compliant reporting without any estimated or derived math.
